Academic mobility is one of the most powerful levers for the development of a common space for knowledge. It provides academic, social, and economic benefits, contributing to the creation of an Ibero-American identity that goes beyond the academic gains to influence the society as a whole.
The promotion of the academic mobility is one of the centerpieces of action of the Ibero-American Space of Knowledge (EIC), which is managed by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) together with the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and the Ibero-American University Council (CUIB).
The OEI has acquired significant experience in academic mobility over the recent years. It is one of the institutions with a greater "know-how" accumulated in this area within the Ibero-American context, and it is the reference among the cooperation agencies operating in the region. The academic mobility of the OEI has three important initiatives: the Paulo Freire Academic Mobility Project, the Exchange and Academic Mobility Programme (PIMA) and the Pablo Neruda Mobility Programme.
